The runways for SS and FW22 were overflowing with the hottest new trend– ‘the cut out’. And although many of the brands seemed to lack diversity specifically when it came to this style, the cut out trend is a detail that everyone can wear.

The cut out trend is designed to reveal certain parts of the body. There are many design options to choose from– midriff, back, shoulders, neckline– and more risque locations as well. The key to wearing this trend is to know where a cut out would suit you best.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when participating in the cut-out trend

  • Wherever the cut out placement is becomes the focal point of your look. Make sure it’s one of your strongest assets and avoid drawing attention to a feature you are less than confident about.

  • A neckline cut-out (featured in our onesie) is universally flattering and works for everyone. It draws attention to the face.

  • Avoid symmetrical shoulder cut outs if you have broad shoulders. Instead, opt for a single shoulder cut-out that will draw less attention to the width of your shoulders, like this top

  • A style with a cut out does not have to be form fitting, check out this dress

So no matter what the runways show, you don’t have to have a specific body to wear the current Cut-Out trend.

Experiment. Find what works for you.
